PackSynergy Supervisory Board strengthened along with European commitment

PackSynergy, Europe’s leading network of mid-market, owner-managed packaging wholesalers, has raised its European profile and at the same time expanded the Supervisory Board from three to five international members. In addition to stepping up its European commitment still further with at least one PackSynergy partner in each economically significant country in Europe by 2025, the association will put particular emphasis on sustainability, innovative packaging solutions, digital knowledge management and strengthening its own product brand.

PackSynergy – The European Packaging Network consists of 20 regional market leaders representing 19 European countries with an accumulated turnover of more than 400 million euros. At this year’s Shareholder’s Meeting on 11 November 2020, which for the first time was held as a virtual event, the association elected its Supervisory Board for the next three years. This coincided with the Board’s expansion from three to five international members.

The three existing members Thomas Horna (Chairman; Horna GmbH Verpackungen, Germany), Thomas Nöjd (Deputy Chairman; Christer Nöjd AB, Sweden) and Dirk Dietzel (Wepa Verpackungen GmbH, Germany) were approved along with Patrikios Sarantakos (TEOL, Croatia and Serbia) as well as Jens Sörensen (STOK Emballage, Denmark), who were voted onto the Supervisory Board as new members. “I’m looking forward to another successful period as Chairman of the PackSynergy Supervisory Board”, commented Thomas Horna. “The newly elected body are eager to set a lot of things in motion and raise our status as Europe’s leading packaging network.”

For Thomas A. Baur, CEO PackSynergy, the composition of the new Supervisory Board is yet another unmistakeable signal of the association’s increased European profile. “Our network provides a strong counterbalance to global players and addresses the challenges of tomorrow’s globalized world with a clear, European growth strategy”, said Baur. “By 2025, at least one PackSynergy partner in each economically significant country in the European continent will be playing an active role as a market architect.”

The PackSynergy strategy puts the emphasis on sustainability, innovative packaging solutions, digital knowledge management and strengthening its own product brand. “An ability to innovate is a decisive factor for European SMEs, especially in the face of global competition. Through our network, we’re optimally placed to bundle expertise, know-how and resources and get the best solutions onto the road faster”, Baur stresses. Sustainability is a particularly important aspect here. According to the PackSynergy CEO, “Solutions offering the highest levels of environmental effectiveness are a key part of our claim to leadership”.
